We would love to come if it doesn't clash with staff Crimbo do's as it always seems to have done in the past. Hopefully we can fill lots more than 30 places!

Hows about buffet & disco...even a karaoke? at somewhere like Henshaws..... could make it a "HDVW club family Crimbo party" ;D peeps could still park up overnight in Cunningham Hall or possibly even Henshaws Car park

I'm with Pelum on this one as a open and friendly welcoming club it seems a little bit negative to only have 30 places!!! I understand that some people can not attend due to commitments/work etc and the last few Christmas Party's were only just filled but is there a underlying reason for lack of attendance? ? This is quite a simple one. The room in the Oak is very comfortable for 30 people. Last year we had 17 people pay a deposit to attend & the year before that was about 28. If we have more than 30 deposits then we'll look to host the Christmas meal to a bigger venue.

As Hermann rightly points out, the more that wish to attend the bigger the venue, that's logical and easy.
Myself and June have organised a number of the Christmas Do's for the club and they have allways been great nights, we have also included the suggestions to have it anywhere anyone wants to have it but in truth the highest number we have ever had was 31...........and it felt right to give something back to the Oak for letting the Club use the field at the back
To get a venue the club has to start planning right now, deposits taken and members committed to attend, believe me in previous years we pushed and badgered every member but it's their choice whether to attend or not...........so we will start the listing for Brum....only 24 places left ;-)
Rich...please advise how much deposit per head you want Please also advise where you want the deposit sending to

Sorry Orvil, we only have it on the Friday because Most people have their work/other Christmas do's on the Saturday. & any other night of the week is a work night. Could you book the night off?

IMO as Rich has offered to organise it then it is up to Rich how and where he wants the XMAS Do and then its up to the members if they want to go, but he has allready posted up that its the Oak and the date but if it changes so be it, as long as I am here and can attend on the night I will turn up (I think I can speak for June, Maz, Issy and Stu as well) no matter where it is just to support the club.......

Hi all, Can I say after to talking to people recently and reading the posts I agree with everyone. All the view's and comments are valid. I think its great and totally support people suggesting ideas and commenting and please continue to do so. This is really healthy and is what the what a club is all about. Please be assured all comments are taken on board and will be tried to be accommodated. But as the saying goes though "you can only please some people some of the time and not all people all of the time" and that's the hard bit and I have to aim for the compromise. Currently the Venue is The Oak, Staveley for tradition and convenience of booking. However I have a second venue in mind should numbers be exceeded to accommodate as I think we all understand and agree. Details will follow with the final cost etc and Derek you're right deposits will be asked for before your place is confirmed. I'm aiming to confirm this at the September meet if not before then I'll post on the forum. Derek and June have done a grand job in the past organizing these parties and the bar is set high, So what I can confirm the evening will be full of entertainment with something for everyone as I have many ideas up my sleeve Details will follow and will be confirmed soon...remember it's the people that make a good party Hope this is ok.. Many thanks Rich.. Please put your name on the list if you wish to attend... 1. Derek 2. June 3. Our Maz 4. Issy 5. Stuart 6. Alex (and maybe Rebecca) 7. Simon(Yakboy) 8. Hermann 9. Maxie 10. Rich 11. Stacey

Was there not a ridicules charge for Camping last year? [/quote Charge for camping? in my knowledge the Oak under its previous management never charged previously......camping, for those that wish to, should, if possible, be FOC as a pre-requisite to holding the Xmas Do at the place............seems a bit of a cheek to me, asking to pay to camp in a field with no facilities...!!
