Hi everyone - - joined after seeing one of the screen posters at the fab Harewood VW event last weekend. But ... awful thing ... I don't YET have a Camper van. One day I will - PROMISE - so I'm looking for advice on what to get and what to look out for. All help welcomed so I can become a proper person with a proper vehicle ;-) Thanks. Leo

Leo Hi Leo, Welcome to the club and glad you had a great time at Harewood. Feel free to come along to our club meets/days etc with or without a Vdub.....Its a good way to chat to like minded people and we will help you gain knowledge and help you in buying a vehicle, oh and to have a laugh along the way. Cheers Simon

Thanks for the welcome - will do my best to get to the next club meet! And what am I looking for? Well, a classic camper van so I can nip off for weekends. Not sure if you can use these as your main/only vehicle - does anyone still make them? Imports? Refurbs with new engines? But would love to do that. Not sure I can afford 2 cars - so need to soak up ideas and info for now. Budget might be £15k tops

Come and meet us and get some ideas...............I would be a bit careful of letting people know your budget............some peeps (Not from this friendly club I may add) could decide to allow you to fill their pockets with your dosh and you may have little to show for it..........if you talk to your fellow club members and take your time in making your decisions you will make wiser and more informed choices.....

Could run a beetle for your daily driver and build yourself up to a camper. You can also hire a camper for the weekend and see how much you like before parting with your pennies. Might also give you some time to decide what kind of camper you're after as there r lots of models and options. Splits tend to be the most desirable then bay windows and after that t25's offer pretty good value but not as sought after as earlier vans. My pal has just bought 67 split for £3k from a local garage in Scotland and spending £10k on resto so should have something nice for that. Equally you only need to look in back of volksword for 25k vans
