A unique 1979 twin-sliding door Type2 Bay Camper Van with Devon pop-top roof is up for sale. ‘Ozric’ was originally a delivery van which had been partly converted with bodywork improvements and white/green re-spray done by previous owner about 3 years ago.
Mechanically improved by Dubtricks @ Dacre it has now become a stunning camper van, having had a complete internal refit. It has a cherished registration number
included - transferred from our 1972 VW Bay Dormobile (R.I.P). It seats 5 and sleeps 2 and is ready to drive away!
Exterior
• Jacking points & outriggers, wheel arches & tubs have been replaced or in very good condition
• Wheel arches and underside have previously been waxoyled & is currently being redone
• Cab floor is in very good condition
• Front disc brakes/callipers/pads replaced last year
• 1600cc reconditioned engine with new Standard34 Pict3 carburettor
• ‘EMPI’ twin quietpack exhaust system… “dub–dub-dub” as it should!
• Four quality tyres fitted on pepperpot alloys. ‘Goodyear’ & ‘Firestone’ with loads of life on them!
Interior
• Cab has bespoke reupholstered original VW drivers seat & 2-seater bench with matching door cards (thanks to quality job done by Rob @ http://www.harlequincartrimming.co.uk)
• Double rear seat with lap seatbelts easily turns into a ¾ size rock & roll bed
• ‘Campershak’ range unit with ‘Camping Gaz’ cooker/grill, sink with water tap & ‘Whale’ Babyfoot pump – range unit is bolted to bulkhead and can be re-sited alongside the main store unit for a more traditional setup if preferred
• ‘Campershak’ main store, half-bed locker & rear cubby with overhead locker including the underbed storage - loads of space to stash all your camping gear!
• Van walls have been eco-insulated behind beige leather-look panels - also fitted to sliding doors
• Floor has been soundproofed/insulated and carpeted
• Rear quarters etc have been carpet-lined for sound insulation and comfort
Reality Check! Ozric isn’t perfect…but there is not much wrong with it either...
• Rust beginning to show on underside of cab doors
• ‘Fiamma’ skylight in pop-top needs replacing
• The van has no heating – aftermarket exhaust = no heat exchangers
Offers over £8000 for a quick sale.First to see it, will buy it, I'm convinced!
...and the reason for selling ‘young’ Ozric? – Simple, we want to own an older camper van again and we would consider an exchange for Early/Crossover Bay @ £4-5K plus cash difference.
Any questions please call 01904 331700 weekends or after 6pm.
Photos can be sent on request...I can't post pics here! How is it done?
