Hi, I'm hoping someone out there may be able to help me. I've got a '67 split in standard form.. usual 1500cc..standard carb, exhaust etc etc.. The problem I have is that when the engine is under load there is an almighty flat spot ..so almighty you have to back off the throttle , dip the clutch to rev the thing again!!! A typical scenario would be approaching a roundabout..back off the throttle..then accellerate..or not in this case!!! In an attempt to cure it, I've:
replaced the plugs and leads replaced the coil swapped carbs..and fitted a known carb in good order..new jets seals etc new points and condenser checked the bellows on the ends of the manifolds checked the operation of the vac advance unit tried running the van with other fuel filler caps and none at all
The motor is as sweet as can be..it starts perfectly, revs nicely, ticks over without problems..no clanks etc. I'm at a bit of a loss!! Any one any ideas...would appreciate any help. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards
