Think alot are going thursday night and camping nearby, so they be fresh and first in que! If I don't see ya , I see ya in the SSVC camping spot somewhere, I have your number, keep in touch.

Hi Yakboy..........that source of "Free Stone" went through my windscreen on Friday morning near Woodall..............put paid to Vanfest for me..........BAR STEWARD Thanks to Mick (two Dogs) trying to help to source a screen, much appreciated. To be honest it wasn't a stone that nearly took my head off it was a securing clip off a lorry!!!!..........this was one very, very close shave Here are the pics, look at the entry hole on the drivers side and have a look at the clip that did it, RAC....built for speed...called @ 10.45...left Woodall @ 16.15....work that out then. At least I have sorted a new (Laminated) screen for replacement on Wednesday, back to the way it was then, well not quite!! At Woodall services, just look at that hole, right near my head. The pick up truck was a brand new mercedes, it ran like a dog, lurching from side to side and pushing hot air constantly through the cab area, it had only done 460 miles!! Taped up the window to try and retain the glass cos it was everywhere The OFFENDING MISSILE!! Well, at least it gets repaired on Wenesday, really missed not going to Vanfest though. Maybe next year.

Blinkin 'eck Derek That was definitely one close shave - it's a real shame you missed going to VanFest but hey, it could have been much much worse!! I am sure the bay will look ship shape once again very soon Glad to hear you're ok though mate! Thats the main thing.

That was rotten bad luck Derek . Echoing others, you're fine and the van will be too. Amazing how the screen held together. You did keep the good looks then.

Thanks for thinking about my health and well being everyone, I have to admit went the screen went "BANG" I was passing that d**n lorry at just under 80 so I guess I was very, very lucky the pin didn't smack me right in the mush......I guess the guys behind me got the fright of their lives when I accelerated past them and swung over to the hard shoulder!!!!
RAC took an age to get me back, by then my heart was not in even beginning to try to get to Vanfest & called it a day.
Wouldn't wish this experience on anyone and it really screwed up Vanfest for the second year running for me, I just hope that those who went...ENJOYED.
The van will get sorted soon!!

You were very lucky Derek it could have been so much worse. I know the windscreen is bad enough but no damage to the front of the van or yourself which is the main thing. It wasn't a problem looking for screens, but I only found the two I told you about. Last year there were quite a few about. Hope to see you at the Oct meet.
Cheers Mick
