Right I went down to see the beetle on Saturday. It really has been quite a shock to see how 40 years of UK roads affect this car and there was more rot that I thought. so instead of doing a half arsed job of this car it will be restored all the way. The body has been seperated from the chassis and will be blasted within the next 3 weeks. next step will be to strip the running gear from the chassis have that blasted and then clean up all the running gear and re-fit to the chassis.
Wow, when you check out Lilly's 1st shiny picture its difficult to believe this is the same car. Will you need to support the body structure now to stop it distorting while it is being welded? That is going to be a kick a*se restoration. Regards
