Great photo's. The Karman with the Graphics is outstanding. Absolutely love Alex's finishing line about the Corsa. Tears running down the face man hahaha. This fire risk business is serious stuff. We must reduce the risk. Speaking to a guy when I bought our bus....Just sold his pride and joy, with the purchaser driving home. Apparently one of two petrol filters had split along the seam and spayed fuel mist over the engine. Nobody hurt but resulting in the Bay burnt out. The emphasis there was if you have a filter make sure it is on the feed to pump and not after it, better still no filter.

Hm I disagree a filter is very good to stop crap from going into the carb. just replace it every year they are only £1 or so. & put the correct clamp on each end to make sure that it cannot come off.

I appreciate your point. But apparently the filter had split along the seam. This can be caused by a poor quality filter not the clamp . The really cheap ones do have a pronounced seam down the length. We took one off Justin's. The point I suppose is that if the filter is before the pump then it experiences vacuum. If the filter blocks the pump cavitates harmlessly. However if its between the pump and the carb then the filter will pressurize. The cheap filter may split. Because of the amount of muck in the red cab tank, Justin removed the tank and rinsed it out. Percy has an electrical pump so a recent purchase for the split was a chrome/glass type filter which can be washed out with petrol and more durable. A cheap one might clear the crap but it might also make it (trousers) . The glass type are £8 from SSP and its for life. A driveway near you would sort it bud. Our Bay does not need a line filter because the standard mechanical pump has a fine gauze screen .

You get what you pay for. In this case it must have been a low cost budget quick fix filter. I for one would prefer to wait until I had the cash to buy high quality or NOS parts than to see the results of 'quick fixes'. Unfortunately, there are people out there selling parts that seem good value for money but in fact are very poor copies that would compromise both performance and more importantly safety. BE SAFE EVERYONE
