Notice to all
We have been in contact with the campsite and they are concerned with the fact that the ground might not have dried out because of the winter wet weather by the 1-2nd April. It has been decided that we need a Plan B.... Plan B could be a change of venue for the weekend or change the date to June. the monthly outlook is not great with lots of wet weather on the way. I will be sending out an email towards the end of the week or beginning of next week with a list of ideas for Plan B.... Fingers crossed we have a few days of warm sunshine and it dries the ground out.
Just want to keep everyone informed on whats going on....

They had a foot of snow at Whitby last week.....the owner of the site knows best and we should take that advice.
I would wait and see what the owners say by Friday next week (17th) and accept their decision.
IF its a postponement I would suggest that it is just re-arranged for the June SSVC camping week end held each year at Beacon Farm and ask the SSVC if we can attend as the "Guest Club" for the Week End.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll be quite gutted if we have to re-arrange. I will still send an email out soon as i want everyone to know and dont want people turning up in knaresborough, york or even worse whitby and getting annoyed.

If it IS too wet to camp over at Beacon Farm for the weekend, what about a day trip cruise to Whitby on the Sunday, or is it too far? There must be somewhere somebody knows were we can park up and have a drink, and spend the day by the sea.

sounds like a plan, could all go early and park up along the sea front or on the top of west cliff, plenty of space and nice fish n chips in magpie!! but lets pray and hope for the best weather and warm sun for the camping to go ahead!

Errrrr......I think we should just bight the bullet and accept that this camping trip is not going to happen.....So I suggest we contact the SSVC and combine our 1st Year celebration with the SSVC Camping Week End in June as the "Guest Club" at Beacon Farm with the SSVC.
AND go for a cruise (EARLY MIND TO BEAT THE TRIPPERS) to Whitby from Knaresborough/Harrogate to York to Whitby West Cliff on the 2nd instead.......Fish n Chips from "Magpie" back to the West Cliff...loads to do at West Cliff Beach....then a meander in to the town....
Well thats my suggestion cos I hate faffing about with decisions :-)

I will still wait until Monday 27th before I send my final email about the camping. If it is called off then yes I think that a cruise for Fish&Chips sounds great. I'll also include that in the email if the camping is called off. The decision lies with the owners of Beacon Farm. Wait n See

I will get in touch with the SSVC and ask them. ____________________________________________ Hi Derek I do not see a problem, as you say most of you normally attend. I would ask that you give me some idea of numbers nearer the time. This year I was thinking of doing something new and I see from the forum you were planning things for your event. Maybe we can sort something between us. Speak soon Nigel ____________________________________________ Hi Nigel Our little club, the Harrogate and District VW Club were meant to celebrate our 1st anniversary over 1st/2nd April @ Beacon Farm....well the weather has probably put paid to that Therefore, on behalf of our little local club we would like to request the SSVC if we may join you all on the 16th - 18th June SSVC Camping weekend @ Beacon Farm @ Whitby, North Yorkshire as a "Guest Club" (We would have come anyway as SSVC members!!!) we have all manner of air cooled but predominantly campers and ALL members are well behaved.... Could you please advise if that is okay with the SSVC. Thanks Derek Rowe

Nice one Thanks Derek. Much appreciated. I'm in Germany next week but will call Beacon Farm on the 27th & get a final decision. If its a goer then see how many still want to go. If its No-Go then Plan B it is and a joint camping weekend with the SSVC. I'll send out an email on the 27th also. We can still go for Fish n Chips though.
