Hello, hoping for some advice. We have a 1976 Viking camper that is going in for welding and a respray. The headlining is all torn and the bellows are looking sad, also we don't need the extra sleeping room . We are thinking of getting one of the Fistrel fiberglass sliding roofs or a Westfalia type to replace the viking set up, as the cost of a new headlining and bellows will be around the same price. Would welcome any advice from experienced owners, as this is our first van .Also,if we decide to do this would anyone want the old roof? Alternatively are there ways of covering the torn headlining with material...eg like " wallpapering" new material over it as another alternative ? Not asking much am I ...lol.

I don't have a Viking conversion, its a Devon conversion. We did have it all replaced by a company in Worcester not sure if they do Viking one though, I'll have a look. Here's the link to who did ours, and they do Vinking roofs. campershop.co.uk/ they did a great job on ours. Hope this helps, Mick.

...just to update, went over with the Viking, to Jez at Dubtricks and pleased we did. His advice was brilliant . Being the first van we ever have owned it was a huge learning curve, owning the van for 6 months helped us to understand what we wanted and just what was entailed, in time and money, in making over a VW Camper. So, armed with Jez's expert advice we started over, we part exchanged our van and are now picking up a Westfalia next week that has all the elements we hoped for in a Campervan, will post some pic's when we get it. Thanks
