Dates - 24th-26th September 2010 www.vikingvolks.co.ukViking Volks Fest in North Yorkshire has been running for 4 years now, it is a friendly family orientated event run by VW enthusiasts from the North East. But even if you don’t have a VW you can still come along, camp and enjoy the ending of the festival season in style. With a real ale bar, live bands, tasty food stalls, quality trade stands, workshops, a KIDZONE, extremely impressive views of the Yorkshire Dales, a Sentry circle then the show 'n' shine on the Sunday to finish it all off, there will be plenty to do! Viking Volks is organized and run by the same people as the successful Willowman Festival (www.willowmanfestival.co.uk) so promises to be good. Attachments:

Cut the bloody grass and get rid of the cuttings, last year the field was full of grass ticks AND it is a serious fire hazard..................enjoyed the show though

I think no dogs would put alot of people off. They're a part of the family.

Are you sure............a festival.....people .........and grazing animals in the same field.............naw that can't be right, maybe adjacent fields.............woofers were allowed last year with no problems, I am sure woofers under control won't be an issue

Right so we are ball oxed. Gail and Steve will be scre wed too. To be honest if we went without the doggies I would not enjoy thinking about sheep ticks. Or how about stepping in cow sh1t. so this will be the first year since they started the show we will miss. Rather confused that previous years were ok. Maybe the livestock is to chew down the grass. Low grass and low attendance.

I contacted the organisers this afternoon and sadly this the response, therefore anyone with a woofer will, if they wish to attend, have to make arrangements, to leave the pet at home or with a sitter.
QUOTE
Hi Due to the recent refurbishment and return to sheep farming for the festival site a" No Animals" policy was put in place. Unfortunately some times changes are unavoidable. I have discussed this today with all parties concerned and we will sadly have to stick to it. I realise this may lose some customers but arrangements for pet sitting can be made. I hope you understand, Regards, Steve

get a dog sitter dont think so rubys part of our family, plus the cost of putting her in kennels and tickets not worth doing the show, me thinks they underestermate how many people will not turn up because of this.

I'm with Pellum on this. Our doggies go with us everywhere. Don't do dog sitting. Our dogs don't choose us. One of the great things of having a van is so the pets can come with us. My early contact with the vikingsound steve received a very short stern reply. Like ' well just how many dogs do you have!!?' My polite reply was how we keep them on a lead always and clean up after them and they do not cause a nuisance. Again he says 'how many dogs? How many events do you know who allow in dogs.' ...computer not big enough to support the list. Seemed all the previous years were ok when Viking fest had very few visitors. Also why didn't the promoters state earlier on the flyers....'no dogs'. Instead they have put in the rules 'no animals'? what!! is that just in case somebody brings their pet cow? I understand how people get annoyed with nuisance dogs.. they should just state the dogs must be on a lead. If that don't work through em off the site. The only events not permitting dogs that I am aware of are the ones at Santa pod, so they don't get squished in 14seconds. Would any dog owners considering the show, complain to viking fest. contact on their web site. So this years a miss, shame. Those that go, that have been stepping over sheep poo at stanford hall. Just think your gonna camp on that!

It would be great to get a Hd camping weekend sorted somewhere, to take it's place for us Dog lovers!!!! Just wondered if (thinking allowed here) anyone would be interested in going to Runswick bay campsite? Nice little site which we have visited many times and recently with Mick & Georgina. Great beach to walk on and take the pooches, good couple of pubs to have food and beer over looking the bay. On hour last visit they had a Triumph club weekend and they had the large field dedicated to them and they had a marquee etc. I asked if it would be possible to have group of Vdubs, thinking for a future event, and they said it should be fine with notice. Link to location on google below- If anyone is interested then i could call them and ask if possible on them dates. maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl&q=TS13%205HR%20%20%20

We are up for HD camping.
We have mentioned this on other threads on the forum aswell.
How about rolling all into the Sept club meet and BBQ as we have mentioned?
I have started a new thread called September meet. On there lets discuss and arrange a HDVWClub meet/camping trip.
What you think?
Rich..

No I am sorry but dogs are not allowed, I know it has caused a lot of upset but there is really nothing we can do about it, the farm is being used for the grazing of animals. The website is currently being updates so it will state that no aniamls are allowed-no dogs, crocodiles or lions... I am very sorry if this stops any of you from attending Viking Volks this year, it will be a shame not to have you there to support us. Thank you. Jasmin (PA for Steve Williams) p.s. if you feel necessary then please reply via email (and use email to contact us) as I do not check this forum that regularly and would not want to annoy any one because of slow response. email ad: viking.volksfest@hotmail.co.uk
