I have just upgraded my generator to and Alternator which went quite well until I found arm on the right hand side off the carb hits the alternator edge as it comes down to full throtle. As in pic below there is a nut that goes through to plates and it appears to be the nut that hits the alternator. Can anyone tell me the best wat to solve this so I can get full travel on the accelarator pedal/cable? do I try and bend it or cut it off etc. Any help much appreciated. Simon

Simon, I don't know if you can get a spacer to fit between the manifold and the carb....what carb are you running..I swapped to an altenator and didn't have problems with my stock or progressive carb. Could you take a slightly wider angle piccie showing the fuel pump as well (did you change this to an altenator compatable one ?)

The fuel pump didn't get in the way so that is fine but the carb arm is fouling at full extension. Carb is PICT 34 3

I did some careful trimming from the top of the locking screw on the lamb chop linkage. Then bent the linkage over. Worked a treat and get full throttle movement. However the linkage pulls close to the alternator. Puts your ticker in the gob mind when you bend the linkage. I was advised about mixture probs from putting a spacer in. then there is the air filter clearance if you use a K&N type element.

Thanks for the info, it does just seem to be the nut that appears to hit the alternator edge, so did wonder if I could remove it some how?

The original yank alternator was fine. However the alloy casing had been eaten into by a crap drive pulley. I had to replace the unit purchasing a kit. The kit has a new stand but it is identical to the original. So it seems some types of alternator are ok. Maybe the lower KW type dosen't foul.
