Anybody have any advice on carb linkages....took my split to get the 34 ict's fettled at our local rolling road (Bogg Brothers in east lutton)...anyway got them rejetted and balanced but Mr Bogg senior (in his 70's and a weber guru) and he didn't have a good word to say about the carb linkage...despite stronger return springs and in a slightly different location we are having problems getting the throttles to shut completely...also the hex bar flex's slightly (a design fault not a problem with the bar itself) also the throttles will only 2/3 rds open when the accelerator is depressed slightly (it has been suggested a longer bar on the accelerator pedal is needed). Are there alternative linkages for these small carbs to the EMPI one supplied by Eurocarb...CSP only do linkages for bigger carbs !
Any advice would be gratefully recieved

Simon, talk to Daz at Air Cooled Performance, he will sort it for you, I doubt it is the linkage, I have had this problem before and it was all associated with the accelerator travel, accelerator cable take up and linkage springs, the three have to work in tandem, they are more sensitive than you think.
In the end I made up a new throttle cable, adjusted the travel on the accelerator pedal by fitting a return spring under it, made up an adjustable throttle link, blathered the inner cable with 3 in 1, bingo it all worked sweet as a nut.

Cheers for the advice Derek...I know the accelerator can be a weak link in the chain as well as the linkage but the Empi linkage really is pants...I've been doing a bit of digging on the web and CB linkages are better but the CSP bell crank system seems to be a simpler system with less weak points...so I might go for that and then work on the accelerator pedal and linkage as well. www.machine7.com/section.php?xSec=334What do you think..worth a try? Looks a lot simpler than the hex bar setup

The CSP is much better than the Empi, especially on a split (Longer cable runs alignment etc) I fitted the CSP to June Cabriolet and it works fine.

CSP bell crank linkage fitted..took it to Daz at Aircooled Performance and all tweaked up..need smaller idle jets so off to see Mr Bogg Snr. to get them changed but otherwise running very smoothly ;D
