Hey all, im a complete noob to this site, im the proud owner of a 1971 pile of rusty german steel (i love it but its not an exageration). I moved into York from Drax a couple of months ago, and unfortunately due to various circumstances one of which being the moths in my wallet bugger all has been done on the van since. however, the link to my ongoing earlybay.com thread will help get everyone up to speed. forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23406Hopefully my lovely employer (im contractually obliged to say that) might start giving me more money before too long and i might stand a chance of getting it on the road for its 40th birthday this coming december. otherwise, watch this space, I may yet be forced to consign it to the list of unfinished projects that you see for sale at the end of every summer. Fingers Crossed.

well. i appeared on here then vanished again. i find these threads such hard work to keep up. but the story of the van has moved on a lot since last year. i lost my garage, but i found a nice man who was willing to take on the project. most of the welding was done so he only had sills and doors left which admittedly were buggered. and then add paint. unfortunately since my garage has gone, i had to ask him to get it road worthy, rather than get the skilled stuff done and then give me some tinker time to put it all back together. but currently were at this stage... i was hoping to bring it to harewood for its first big outing, but the time scale now means that it wont be back on my drive untill a couple of weeks after. but hey ho. ill try and get out and meet some of you when its finally back.

cheers guys, its a bloke over near Goole, i went to school with his brother and noticed a load of dubs round his farm when i was a kid, which is partly how i got into them to start with so its all gone full circle lol. He has semi retired on the customer work front now so i dont think im allowed to give out contact details, but if anyone is desperate i can always check with him. might speed him up a bit.

well i should really update this as i do things, this past couple of weeks, iv got the engine out and stripped. a nice new radio installed ant tuned into radio 4 and my vunder-bra fitted the next few weeks will be taken up with steam cleaning, some porting of heads, waiting for new bits to come into stock. and proving that not all 26 year olds have forgotten what good old fashioned tuning is.

well, I'm officially crap at updating this thread, I kept my mods to a minimum (for now) I'm getting fed up with not being able to use the van. I managed to get my freshly built up engine back in on saturday, a bit of tweaking here and there and iv got it running well enough now (despite a hugely kinked massively too long throttle cable) to get me onto the rolling road tomorrow. and i know the rules, none really cares what i have to say, until there are pictures to go with it... so here you go. and the first time it has fired on all 4 since 2008

looking good, does it sound nice? ;D it does when its working, had one or two small issues and not enough time to sort them, think the jets in the carbs are WAAAAAY off so getting it to run to set the timing is proving difficult unless its set at max advance on tick over. getting there slowly though, couple of other bits and pieces to go on then hopefully shouldn't be too much longer, its doing my nut in not being able to drive it. the weather is helping with that though,
