I would probably say Hamerite as its a pretty hardwaring paint and is quite resistant to heat. I painted the brake drums & calipers on the van last year and they're still in pretty decent condition. I wouldn't take this as gospel but it worked for me. Hope it helps Cheers Mick

I am using hamerite smooth on my brake linkages(silver) and on my engine mounts/brakets (black), it goes on well and looks good. As for my gear box I am having it blasted, I will post some pics if it looks anygood.

Thanks guys, Hamerite it is then, BLACK or SILVER...? Think black as the gearbox get pretty messy over the years...so you dont see the dif between paint and oil!

The silver would bling it up. The black would hide more grubby black, but will also creat more shadow, anyways a can of brake cleaner will shift the muck and oil and get it back bling. Hammerite red, now your talking. they do a yellow too, don't be confined to tradition...experiment! ;D ;D the red engine in our bay looks cool.
