Hi - I need to replace the heater channels (sills?) in my 69 Beetle - does anybody have any information about who sells the best quality parts - it looks like VW Heritage has them for 79.00 while Status VW has them for 49.00 and Hadrians for 60. Has anybody bought any recently?

VW Heritage are great quality but I have found them rather expensive. Status stuff is a lot cheaper and of similar quality to Heritage.
Custom and Commercial are pretty good too. Phone no. 01372 452297 or email them at: info@customandcommercial.com
Cheers, Jon

Thanks Alex and Jon - I'll try the Haxby Road/VW Heritage option first of all. Paul

Hi - has anybody come across a good method of rust proofing/priming the inside of heater channels prior to welding them into place - we are thinking about lots of Waxoil but this will smell when the heater is on or using a Weldthrough zinc primer. Any other approaches greatly appreciated as we don't want to have to keep replacing the rusty channels all the time. Thanks Paul

I am going to use a spray can for the outside and thenexperiment a bit - what I am thinking of doing it putting some of the primer in a cup and then pour it through and shake it around a bit. Not very scienfic but that's all I can think of.

After lots of grinding, polishing, hammerite and zinc primer the first stages of the resto (Vera the 69 Beetle) are completed - bumpers and heater channels ready to go. Now we just need to attach the channels and get started on the rest of it. Hoping to have it ready for Spring next year when we will be able to join the trips away.
