Looks like Alex, Snowman and Jellibus are all going in convoy from the "SOWF" will have to hook up with the T25's and Daisy/Eby and "meander" down. Dillema, the Split (No can Sleep in properly) or the Bay (Can sleep in properly but can't camp in the SSVC unless I sneaks in) What do ya think?

Dillema, the Split (No can Sleep in properly) or the Bay (Can sleep in properly but can't camp in the SSVC unless I sneaks in) What do ya think? I say SPLIT, and you can sleep in our "5 Star" awning if you like! But then again, thought I saw a few bay's and motorhomes on the SSVC campground last year!

Derek looking forward to seeing your bay. or is it Izzy's? I've got the bug sorted. was leaking from the push rod tube seals. I think I need to adjust the link pins on front ends. and i think its time to renew the fuel pump gaskets. I'm taking the split to get the carb properly setup today so then that should be working properly.

Hi Herman
Glad you got the Bug sorted ,allways jobs to do though, never ending to keep em alive, the Solex carbs are notorious for leaking at the brass spindle bush, a company in the States (I will get the details for us all) refurbs Solex carbs with this bush modified. I know it is a daft question but are u sure its the carb, when did you last check the fuel filter, the tank will be full of nutse, they all are due to running low RON petrol in the 60's, a good incvestment and cheap to boot is to renew EVERY YEAR your fuel lines, the petrol filter and clean out the carb, run your tank fairly low (a gallon) and drain off as you renew, you will be amazed at the crap that gushes out.

Derek. When I was having starting problems, the first problem was that no fuel was passing through the filter. So I put a new fuel pump on (Brazillian one) and put new fuel lines and filter on. The carb leaks from the cast itself. on the front there is a little circle about the size of 5p and it seeps out of that. Its a 71-72 1303 carb with 12v electric cut off and 12v choke so neither work. so as i'm keeping it 6v for now i need the carb sorting and add 6v electric cut off and choke so they work. also I think i need to get a 009 dizzy and the one I have is rare (only done for a few years i think) I now have the vacuum advance working and that has made an improvement when driving.
My other concern is the steering box. the play is massive. its difficult to drive in the wind. I need a new LHD box or need the rebuild kit and rebuild it

Herman
I think you can use a standard Solex 1600 carb body and I have a spare you could try if you wish, if not a guy on the Samba.com refurbishes Solex carbs and they aint too expensive.
It all ponts to Carb problems on your van, convince Steve that he needs to go to 12v on EBY and get all his 6v parts for nowt!!!
A post on the SSVC recently in the For Sale was selling RHD/LHD boxes for £150, to get a refurbish kit from the SSVC is £450, if you post around the forums you will pick one up, but as to condition, its a risk.
