I wanted to fit some chrome tinware in my beetle engine but when I looked the chrome tinware has two air hose holes and the old tinware has the three. Two which come out of the fan housing and one from the air filter bath. Do I need the one from the air filter? as the bit that it connects to near the exhaust seems pointless. HELP!!!

Naa this will not be a problem for you. The hose from the filter to the exhaust, is to provide early warm air to the carb intake. This provides early warm air to reduce the risk of the carb icing up. The promoted warm air also reduces the auto choke operation time. The engine will run fine without the hose. I have removed the oil bath cleaner for a plane filter hosing which sits on top of the carb. allegedly helps fuel economy and gives a tad more power. (not too sure mind). Anyway, no worries it will be ok without. Threaded nuts in chrome tin ware have a bad habit of stripping bolts so be careful if you need to undo the screws/bolts later.
