Well still hard at it! Done a lot of welding also fitted full dampers/springs all round, front bearings/brakelines(braided)track rod ends/pads/disks/ball joints/wishbone/bushes...........................
Also dropped the engine back in, should be able to have a go at starting it in the next tew weeks..........will it ever run again???
This is the moment it started (note the red extra earth lead!) The funny thing is once the engine was up to temp and stopped again. It never needed the extra earth lead again??? Paint insulating the earth path I think.
Now I am begining to refit all the glass and interior.
Went for a quick run around the block, stopped for a photo. Car would not start! Due to no fuel, thought it was low! Walked home collected fuel can, got in van bought fuel. Back to car, put fuel in car. Tried to start car and battery died. Walked home collected jump leads and my van, jumped golf (started ok). Drove home then walked back to collect van!!!
Hi all just an update. I have sold my golf. Due to my business taking up more and more room in my garage I have had to let it go. I will put the money aside and hopfully in a few years will get a early bay. But until then I am VW less..................
But the happy part to this tale is the new owner has owned it before. He bought it in 1988 when it was only four years old. He had it a while and made all the upgrades the engine has had. He was searching online for a new project to go with his edition 30 golf mk5 and to his surprise found his old car. Which he thought was lost in a accidentafter he sold it!
So although Im sorry to see it go i know it will be loved and looked after very well. So until I get my business up and running and earn some brass. I will make do with my corsa combo (same PCD as a golf at least)
