Hello people - got a problem I hope you can help with.
My steering is making a squeaking sound when turning coming from the bottom of the steering column / top of the steering box. Its like a rubbery drawn out sound rather than a metal squeak - same as when you rub your trainers on a shiny floor type of sound. I hadn't drove the bus for a couple of weeks as I was away and then this has happened. I lifted the front end of the bus up and whilst the sound happened less it was still there and very much focussed at the top of the steering box. The steering coupling looks fine and the steering performance is still good. This one is a mystery to me...any clues? Cheers Marcus

Could it be the cabling for the horn has got trapped?

Cheers Brum for the tip but it was something else.
After a bit of research I decided to try topping up the oil. I got some gear box oil and filled the steering box up. The box must have been empty cause it took a lot to fill it up. The result is that the squeaking has gone and the steering is a lot smoother. Bring on the next problem...well leave it a while first!
