Ventured down Doncaster this weekend for a bit of help from Volksrod paul was gonna look at wheel bearings and a gearbox oil leak and possibly fitting safaris.....................
made the trip down found maybe a damaged sump was more important ........
caused by grounding it out leaving RTTH weekend previous im guessing
plus we werent sure what year bearings we needed !!!!!
dropped the oil
[image]
been some rough ass working on the sump before^^^^ check that allen bolt

deep sump off new strainer and sump plate installed d**n its shiney.....
whipped off drivers side wheel cos it was squeeking checked bearings and discovered a 63 bearing will work lots of dust in the hub so cleaned it down greased up the bearings they still whurring a bit so replace during winter......
onto the safaris
[image]
fixed glass... leaked like chuff in a shower... maybe due to the dry rubbers so safari's leak hay hoooo out the fix windows go
[image]
under the rubbers wasnt to crusty for a 60's bus
[image]
1 window in im armed with a drill
[image]
VolksrodPaul informs me thats number 2 and we are done
the safari's need some tweeking and some painting... but glad they are fitted ive had them since stanford and aint fit them oh well ill enjoy them at brighton then next year :)

Thanks again Paul your a big help and a big motivation.......But man no need to rip off my number plate getting my bus off your drive ;) hehe

over the last day ive faked the funk a little cos basically the white didnt look right!!!
Red oxide under neath the grey primer
[image]
still didnt look right so a trip to halfords for some blue
a little rub down with some compound (cheers sooty ;) )
this is what i ended up with
[image]
then the previously white rear bumper got the same treatment
[image]
needs more stickers and road grime me thinks

then i went for a little spin with the safaris open
Man How Smiley was I!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

well got a few days of work man flu has pretty much cleared up so it was time to hit the tools and make a start
first things first check the ride height out
[image]
wanting to lose between an inch and a half to 2 inches..... for some reason i thought my bus stood closer to 61" that 60" so thats a good start :)
the bus then went up, up into the air
[image]

Ive had some lower profile tyres sat in the garage since the summer so today was the day they got changed
so its off with these
[image]
and on with these
[image]

you can see from this pic where my bus has been scuffing out when things get a bit bumpy
[image]
so off came these old enfield motor bike shocks
[image]
to be replaced by these
[image]
hope they stiffen the ride up a bit
as you can see the chassis rails have been notched to allow clearance for the trackrods
[image]
might see about shaving off some of the gearbox cradle as i have managed to get hooked up on this (anybody done this mod???)
thats all for now folks
