Just joined this forum after meeting some of you at various shows, and having suggestions about putting a contact on here for paintwork. My dad is semi retired and has been doing paintwork for 30 years. He has had magazine features in Minimag etc and really does a good job. He is a really straight bloke who tells you how it is, which is hard to find these days.
His workshop is at our home and has a paint booth etc. He carries out welding, metalwork and paint as well as small scale mechanicing. He also does insurance work for those of you who have had the unfortunate occur to you....
I personally drive an Orange Metalflake Beetle that people keep asking me where I got painted, to which I keep giving out details for - so if anyone wants anymore information contact me via this post! His Workshop number is 01759 388206 - Mick Ward
His paintwork really is show standard, so if you want it done well, you know who to call........ ;D

Hi darren, cheers for the warm welcome. I hope to be down to your meet at the weekend so if you want to have a chat I'll be all ears. My dad is a good guy to talk to as he only does things right and tells you how it is straight. He is one of the old school guys who gives you a max quote and if it works out less, you get the change!!!!
Nice to speak to you, and hopefully me and Sophie will meet some more of you guys soon. Met Brum and Mushy Pea and so far really impressed with the club! ;D Let me know if you want any info or phone numbers etc.

Alex, you are correct. I used to work there a couple of years ago as a saturday job I have also been about at the last few VW FESTIVALS. Ive been meaning to ask you about possibly taking up a place on the HDVW Beetle stand. Would that be ok? I can pre book some tickets, thats no problem, but I don't want to take the places if other members who have been in the club for longer than me want them. Could you let me know? Dave.

Its first come first serve, its been on the forum for a while and think we got all of the "hardcore" members on the stand anyway, put your name on the list and book your own tickets at www.vwfestival.co.uk and put in your on the Harrogate and District VW Club stand. Hi there, yeh I will be there at the meet I hope. Don't know if dad will be there but I will bring his business cards across (enough for most people to have one who wants one). I am speaking to Brum about him having his done. He was planning to come down and have a chat with my dad, so you could both arrange to come down and see him, so that he could give you a quote and even a date for doing it. Like I said to Brum, he will do work on the vans in winter as that is the best time for him, even over the holidays in december / january as he doesnt have much time off! Have a word with Brum and we can have a chat at the weekend and maybe organise a week night or weekend meeting... Cheers Dave

Hi Darren, yeh Im not doin bad! That also would be fine aswell, Its best when I can come home and give him a hand with the prep work as a van is a lot of work for one person, especially as my dad gives them a fair few coats of primer that all need to be rubbed down in between coats! We tend to use 3/4 foot long blocks with sand paper to get them extra straight, but its good to have someone on each end of the block! I hope to be there on sunday, and i will take my camera to get some pics of the potential jobs so that i can show him. I think a trip over to my house for a few of you may be in order! I have a big gravel drive with spaces for at least ten cars to shall we have a meet at mine? ?? ;D Plenty of room! could advertise it as an event, haha! We will all have a chat on Sunday mate Dave

Alex, as you know a complete resto job is a bit of an unknown area unless you have seen the extent of the work, but yes he would do such a thing. Obviously a complete resto would cost more than some welding and paint, but I am sure he would be happy to come and have a look. He would at least do all of the welding and paintwork and look at the mechanical work such as susp, brakes and running gear, but electrics and upholstry would most likely need to be contracted out, as he hates both or them, although he is able to do a bit of both. He carpeted out my bug etc.
You could send some pics, or we will have a chat at the weekend about it if you like? Cheers Dave ;D

Can't recommend these guys enough. Just had my bus restored by them. The end result is stunning! Top quality work at very reasonable prices.
